My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I have always been a storyteller with a fierce creative streak. Nothing made me happier as a child than acting out plays and telling tales about far away places. Then I discovered cameras and a whole new world of storytelling opened up to me.
After my drama degree, I was lucky enough to live up to my dreams and travel. I saw the world with new eyes, living and working in developing countries, volunteering and learning as much as I could about different cultures. Every day was a new story, and it fascinated me.
For me, photos are a very special form of storytelling - tangible, honest and unique. I especially like to photograph people or groups who are changing the world around them for the better, communicating their message to inspire others and get us all on our feet. I get a giddy feeling when I show people images I’m proud of.
I have so much space to grow and the Hermione Granger in me (complete with frizzy hair and hand in the air) cannot wait to learn more. I know I would gain so much from this scholarship, relishing the opportunity and letting myself be filled with the same wonderment that I had as a child. Then I hope to give back 100% in the way I love best: storytelling.
