They had never had an outsider live on their fertile land. It was desired for him to breathe and work with them; he would have the divine privilege to pass time with...The True People.
With time, he transcended the name "Outsider Man of the North" that the village had labelled him with and was anointed a native name. They had protection painted on their faces but eventually granted confidence, warmth and acceptance in order to move forward, overcome soaring mountains and dance the truth.
This man was a friend of mine, and through him I was granted the priviledge of experiencing briefly this beautiful peoples incredible way of life.
These photographs were taken during my time in Ecuador on native land just outside of Santa domingo. During my time at university completeing a fine arts degree I developed my love for photography. I am passionate about capturing the beautiful fleeting moments in life that are so often missed if we don't take the time to look. Since graduating in 06 I have spent my time working on fishing boats and travelling. I have not known how to progress with my photography without moving into commercial work such as weddings, something that does not excite me. I looked into apprenticeships at national geographic and agency 7 but due to the cost, my location, and my inexperience I did not apply. I am now at nursing school learning skills that I hope will allow me to continue exploring the world and that will in conjunction with my photograhy benefit people in some way. I would love the opportunity to work alongside and be mentored by Jason Edwards. I have so much to learn and this would be the opportunity of a lifetime. I hope that these images reflect my ability. I don't have photoshop so was unable to do the touchups required. Apologies.
