The colonial architecture of China Town feels almost ghostly, the snaking lanes and strung up lanterns are part of the exotic Asian Singapore that many imaginations of the city overlook.

Blu Jaz Cafe setting up the sound system before the reggae music began; the Blu Jaz is a part of hidden Singapore and a hub for culture and the arts, worlds away from the famous commercialism of Orchard Road.

Singapore's urban landscape is fascinating and reminiscent of scenes from a 21st Century Jungle Book as prehistoric vines and creepers are suspended from trees wearing coats of parasitic plants, that are presided over by utilitarian state-built HDBs where much of the population live. Singaporeans do not live in as much luxury and are not as rich as many foreign perceptions of the city-state envisage.
