Tales from the travelling soul

About helen_sc

I can currently tick for boxes for 35 countries visited. Acutally, it's not that many when you put it like that. But it's a lot of passport stamps and visas. My first travelling adventure (for real, not family summer holidays) was travelling to Russia in 1992 and taking the Trans-Siberian to Yekaterinberg for a school exchange to stay with a family. I was only 15 at the time so it was a 'proper' adventure. And I've been going ever since.

I currently live in Laos and have been in SE Asia for 2 1/2 years but my first trip to this region was the tail-end of my working visa trip to Australia in 2000 where I overstayed my visa and received a 'do not come back for 5 years' stamp in my passport as a thank you. I currently work as an English teacher but I've also packed bananas, worked as a gardener, been a tour guide in the Mexican jungles and worked in an English pub. Makes for an interesting CV.

I'm open to new ideas, lifestyles and suggestions of places to visit.

And I'm still trying to tick off those country boxes; Sri Lanka and Japan hopefully this year when school holidays permit.
