My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Photography has always been an outlet for me. It has an unrelenting ability to both capture and transport you to one place while simultaneously creating a drive to explore the next place. Whether it's trekking through the mountains of British Columbia shooting skiing or exploring Morocco after the end of a big surf swell, photography is what has pushed me to travel in between the workload of university school terms. Given the experiences I have had traveling much of the world solo, I have developed a strong confidence both meeting and photographing strangers as well as navigating my way through countries where both the language and culture are entirely new to me. Combined with my desire to further build my photography skills and my comfort with being thrown into new situations, I am excited about the possibility of not only shooting Oman but also getting the chance to fully immerse myself in a new culture under the guidance of a professional photographer. Ultimately photography has given me a medium with which to convey both the emotions and events of a place while also reflecting the impact those places have had on me, something I am excited to exemplify throughout Oman.
