My Scholarship entry - York- A Medieval City

It is far too easy to fall into a cliché of saying “Photography for me, is about capturing a fleeting moment in time” or professing your intense passion for the digital art form. To me, photography is about producing a image that gains the attention of the subject. Whether it is because it’s simply aesthetically pleasing or evokes some deeper emotional response.
Although I understand the necessity of manual controls, I am a great believer in simplicity. Using my mobile phone camera often, allows me to focus on solely composition and lighting. In my opinion, it is these elements that contribute most to creating a unique and compelling photo. If I were to be given this assignment, I would blog my mobile photography throughout so that this experience can be shared with many others.
I currently study economics, however, after university I want to pursue a career where I can create something meaningful. I hope that, if I were to be given this fantastic opportunity with Jason, I could realistically aim to enter the world of photojournalism despite no formal training in photography.
