After three days spent voluntarily imprisoned at Shivananda joga ashram, I donate my last night payment and head off to discover some other tresures that Kerala has to offer. I might have stayed day or two longer if they would let me visit the temple where I could treat myself to a private meditation, but I just got my period and according to the receptionist the entrance for women in that period is strictly prohibited. Period. Off I go, to a different kind of temple, The coffee Temple in Varkala. Well-known tourist spot is set on the top of an impressive cliff, the beach is believed to be on of the most dangerous due to strong under-water currents, but I couldn't care less – just the thought of writing on the bar terrase, sipping fresh mango and papya smoothie, overlooking the passionate waves, leaves me breathless.
Lemon-honey-land
Western women in the ashram believe in being all natural, even when it comes to personal higyene. Don't get me wrong, I support the idea that every one should plant a tree, but I really don't find it necessary to grow an under-arm forest. I book waxing appointment in the beauty parlout the minute I step out of riksha! On the south cliff there are three ladies providing cosmetic services; Maria, Lakshmi and Dayana, which has no less then three branches and a whole group of young sprouting girls employed. Their passion, as I found out later, seems to be chit-chatting about European batchelors (even during massages!). I am eagger to try out lemon-honey waxing. Lakshmi is based in Clafouti resort which is far away from my guest house, but for the budget price I can walk a couple of metres. The problem in India in this time of the year is un-stoppable humidity. The problem with waxing in India in this time of the year is un-stoppable humidity and fen that fails to prevent this lovely self-moisturizing of my body. Women, who is named after a goddess of money and earns more in a day than waiters in Clafouti restaurant alltogether keeps complaining about my swet, using this suspiciously beige (steryle, I hope) cotton serviet to dry me up. However, this natural waxing method is less painfull and it doesn't leave as many red spotts on legs as the chemical creme that is usually used, so I don't really have much to complain about. To continue my career of sweet and sticky, I indulge myself with delicious ginger-lemon-honey tea and then book a henna mehandi painting with Maria ...
