Kathmandu
Harry'ere, I've travelled quite a lot years ago during my dance career touring places like Japan, Malaysia, and all over Europe. Then about five years ago I got invited to goto nepal with a friend and since then have been back to Kathmandu and also travelled, took meditation retreat and Buddhist Pilgrimage in Maharashtra / Bodh Gaya, India, and Pullahari Monastery, Nepal. I've returned to dancing but in a new and more focussed way that seeks to integrate more therapeutic, and mindfull methods of working with the body/mind into an evolving practice along with my dancing history that includes technique, improvisation, composition, performance and film. I am learning to ask questions, to challenge my self and my own artistic practice without placing an emphasis on finding the right answers. The investigation and participation seems to be more important here. To paraphrase Cynthia Bourgeause 'it's not a case of finding answers, but more of being open to the pathways that open up' and so for me travel, is precisely that. Pathways and portals that open me to new experiences, people, places, and not only that. I've learned that travel as metaphor for life is all the more fruitful if one can let go of the control, step into the unknown and get off the beaten track now and again. Some things you just can't plan for.
