So we did get sick - and managed to do it spectacularly by catching some sort of horrific stomach bug on the plane to Delhi. After 8 hours of trips to the plane toilets, we dragged ourselves through customs and into a hairy car ride where the driver seemed rather offended that we dare wear seatbelts. The next two days were spent lying in our Delhi hotel room and when Ben had recovered, it was deemed a good idea to call a doctor for me before we attempted a 20 hour train journey to Jaisalmer. Fortunately his magic injections and colourful tablets seemed to do the trick and we boarded the train with our tourmates without ever really seeing much of Delhi.
However, our group of twelve are a nice bunch of people and the train journey was reasonably pleasant, even though it stretched on an extra four hours than scheduled.
From what we have seen of Jaisalmer so far it is all worth it. Beautifully carved sandstone buildings line narrow alleyways and our guesthouse boasts the only sunset rooftop restaurant in the town. We have eaten our first meal in three dyas this evening and are looking forward to exploring further tomorrow.
