My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Monday, November 7, 2011 | 4 photos

These photos were taken on a trip to Vietnam in Ha long Bay. They describe the lives of the locals who spend all of their lives on the water, some of them never stepping on land. Whilst fun is had (as depicted by the little boy laughing), it is also obvious that some long for a different life. The haunted expression on the little girl's face captivated me. The other two photos show the local's daily life in amazing and peaceful scenery.

I am a university student in Australia, studying Wildlife science. The world around us, and its people and animal residents, fascinates me and I long to explore every corner of the globe, and help many along the way. The conservation of wild animals is my passion, and I want to document the release of endangered species back into the wild through photography and video, especially chimpanzees and orangutans like Dr Jane Goodall and Birute Galdikas.

This scholarship could be the start of my career, learning the precise techniques to capture that perfect picture, and then using these pictures to promote the welfare and rehabilitation of animals to the world.

This opportunity would mean so much to me, and thank you for taking the time to consider my pictures and read my application.
