My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

USA | Saturday, December 22, 2012 | 5 photos

My name is Halley Henderson, I'm 18, and I've never found myself so at home than when I'm holding a camera. I feel like I can go anywhere and life can do anything to me.
I've always dreamed of working for National Geographic, and I've never felt like I've been good enough for it. With the growing confidence of my skills and the future opportunities I have, I feel like, maybe one day, I could be travelling to places no one's seen in a hundred years and taking back the evidence of a life changing experience. My dream is to be in Alaska for 8 months of the year, documenting the life of the people I meet and grow to love there.
I'm working as a live music photographer at the moment, but it's not my dream. To do that though, you have to be friendly and willing to do anything to get the perfect photo. I think these skills have helped me for further expansion.
I believe being able to tell a story, without words, is the most primary form of art, and so important to existence and innovation.
I'm not asking for a job, or a name plastered across the world, I'm asking for an opportunity to learn and grow in a place I'd never be able to capture the life of myself.
