Sun 14th - the night before when checking in a couple gave us 2 tokens for a free breakfast so we used these this morning. Was a simple breakfast but not bad for free. We then walked into the centre of Hamburg which was close to the hostel. It was still fairly early and the Christmas markets were all setting up and were really, really nice. They were everywhere. Everything else in the city (shops) were closed as it was Sunday. We got some Grogg to drink and kept the cups (paid a deposit). We also had some Schmalzkuchen which are small German donuts. On the way back to the hostel we stopped at a pub near the station and had some wine then later we came back into the city and went to a pizza restaurant next door to the pub for tea.
