My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I take pictures because it creates goals and gets me thinking. I love visualizing a shot and going for it. I spend a lot of time traveling and adventuring, working as a wilderness guide and on personal trips. I’m happiest cold, wet, muddy, and exhausted- with a camera in hand. What I have that sets me apart is drive, enthusiasm, humor, empathy, a keen sense of adventure, and a willingness to put every bit of my energy into getting a shot. I’m not entering this competition primarily to go to Greenland- although that would be fantastic. I’m entering this competition to learn about using my camera, the photo industry, and how to both get and shoot an assignment- something I’ve never done. In the future, I plan to keep taking pictures during my travel adventures, and use my camera to illustrate environmental and social change. I am passionate about helping people see how beautiful and diverse our world is and I think powerful photography can create powerful changes by expanding our understanding of the world. Choose me and I will work hard, have a great attitude, take great pictures, and push to learn as much as possible during the experience. Thank you for your consideration.
