    With a population of 2, I found myself in Parachilna as the sun was setting behind me. I took this photo in the caravan park looking towards the Flinders Ranges. I was struck by how the Ranges encompassed these two structures and how the landscape as a whole alienated them with its vastness. Views[615] Unaware of any mining in the Flinders Ranges, my friend and I came across this lookout after a highway sign with the words 'Leigh Creek Coal Mine tourist lookout' grabbed our attention. On arriving at the viewing area we were confined by a chain link fence that stood 10ft high. Committed to capturing a clear shot, I asked my friend if I could jump on his shoulders to take the photo. This photograph shows us a minuscule section of the open cut coal mine, which removes 2.5 million tonnes of coal each year. Bewildered by this massive pit in the earth, we stood amazed for almost an hour. Views[868] This photograph, looking out across the north-east of the Flinders Ranges, was taken during a full day hike to St Marys Peak in Wilpena Pound. It had been a wet and overcast day, but after 5 hours of hiking we reached the ridge and the clouds began to shift. Lucky enough to witness this spectacle, I quickly grabbed my camera and clicked as the clouds momentarily parted. Views[836] During my travels throughout the Flinders Ranges, I discovered an array of abandoned vehicles, caravans and interesting objects. There was something that drew me to this caravan. It seemed to have become a part of the landscape. When I look at it I question its history, whom it belonged to, where it's been and why it was left there. Views[1598] I chanced upon this unlikely pair of brumbies standing in unison as I was trekking through the Central Flinders Ranges. Their amiable and curious nature let me get close enough to take this photo. As I stood in awe of their beauty for several minutes, I felt profoundly humbled. Views[751]
