My best food deal experience
Beside the fact that food could disappear your hunger, i also find that food is great for socializing. I have my own experience about this.
On my last travel to USA to attend a conference, i made time for food hunting experience. so here i was in a Mexican food stall in the heart of Boston, left one session of a boring conference for casadila chicken. I had it with a Mexican friend. we just met at the conference. we both boring and hungry, so we sneaked out of it.
Just like another food stall, This Mexican one has no different. But the cold wind of winter and the beautiful garden where the food stall located is perfect for me. So we sit in one of the garden’s table, unwrapped our warm cassadilla chicken with extra cheese and chilli and we started to talk.
“the casadilla they have here is definitely a Mexican food with American style that had the closest taste to the real Mexican food. epic" his words convinced me.
We finally talked for hours. I don’t know whether I was asking too much thought or just because we both love to talk or maybe, and I think it’s the most possible answer, because we ate the same food with different background. I’m Indonesian, he’s Mexican. We met accidently on the conference about how to make a world peace (nothing to relate with food in any way) and it’s excite me when I found that Mexican loves spicy food, like Indonesian. They love talking and laughing, just like us. And i just knew that they use jalapeno chili almost for everything. At the end of the day, he gave me a Mexican candy. It’s a sweet-dried-rice snack that I find its familiar. I have a bite of it, and I realized it is exact same with rangginang, a West Javanese traditional snack in Indonesia. we laugh on that. On how close we are, actually. Through food.
And this was the most interesting part. all these stories, talks and cultural new knowledge were just cost me a five dollars chicken cassadilla.
its still remain as my best food deal ever.
