Hey there!
A native New Yorker, born & raised, I caught the travel bug in my preteens after reading a book in which the protaganist went to boarding school in Switzerland. Though I can't recall the title, the experiences she had exploring new terrain and cultures, and meeting all sorts of people left a lasting impression.
Fast forward a decade or so. The summer after college (2013), I travelled beyond the US for the first time in 12 years, and alone for the first time ever. I spent 6 weeks studying in Perugia, Italy, and a week backpacking in Greece. Since then, I've been hooked.
A year and a half later, I rounded out 2014 with a month and a half abroad, hitting up Milan, Berlin, Prague, Tokyo, Jejudo, and Seoul.
For me, traveling isn't about the resorts and the luxuries of five-star hotels. It's about the luxury of time. It's about exploring new territory, and in doing so, new parts of your Self. Traveling is about recognizing that the world is a vast and beautiful place, and that that which you are used to isn't necessarily the only or the "right" way of doing things.
