My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I often used photos as a starting point for artworks at school but then began to use photos in their own right. After studying Art in London for a year I took some time to travel in Australia and then returned to Sheffield Hallam University to Study BA Photography. Throughout my studies I was pushing myself towards documentary photography as a means to travel and explore despite being more at home using it as part of the creative process in artwork.
I began photographing the local club and sound system scene in Sheffield as a favour to friends but this became part of my university work, my images capturing moments of bliss or solitude amongst the chaos.
After leaving university the next goal was to travel alone in India and Nepal, camera at my side. Each adventure was another photo opportunity, but I struggle with my own limitations, desperate to learn and increase my abilities so that I can get the most out of my love affair with travelling and photography and hopefully use it to a greater purpose than my own enjoyment. I am always keen to travel to new places and see and learn as much as possible, I think it's part of my psyche.
