The whole village works on a new building, even children and elderly are involved. Since Dimen is hidden amidst Guizhou's endless mountain ranges, the villagers are still used to making everything themselves -mostly as a community effort.

These impressively colourful constructions cater for the community as a meeting space, shade and to connect the different parts of the village that embrace the river running through it.

Three generations in Dimen, a Dong-minority village in China's Guizhou Province.

Since the young generation often has to leave their homes for jobs in the city, it's the grandparents who bring up the children.

The Dong people teach children about life by making up songs - something that is also used when trying to impress a love interest.
