My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am 36, Australian, self taught working in the Liquor Industry. I found travelling is something that is in my blood, it inspires me and helps me learn about the world. In regards to photography, my travels taught me how to use a camera. Taking photos on my trips I found I had an an eye to capture that moment and intuitively could frame a moment in time but without the technical ability.
Framing a moment to pass onto generations to come is something that gives me a thrill and a great escape.
When not working/travelling I am busy helping people as I am in several community groups that helps to raise funds for charity. Also I go to gigs to take photos of bands.capturing the essence of the band in all their glory. I love the excitement of changing lighting conditions and trying to compose a dramatic shot in a span of milliseconds. I chat to the pro photographers after the gigs getting feedback to learn.
If I am successful in winning this Scholarship, I would try to learn everything there is possible, learning the amount of work and level of professionalism it takes to be a true photographer working in the field. I hope that someday my photos make it into an exhibition or go to print.
