My Video scholarship 2010 entry

WORLDWIDE | Wednesday, 2 June 2010 | Views [407] | Scholarship Entry

I chose to cover the Red Shirts riots and crackdown in Bangkok because I believe that the world needs to know whole truths and not partial ones.

Risking my life for my craft isn't new to me, but it's the first time in my adult life that war comes to my doorstep.

Covering a story wearing a flak jacket and bullet-proof helmet, yet going home to my wife and a home cooked dinner ever night really put a spin on this story for me.

I spent every day on the streets covering this story evolve for over two month to its culmination on the day of the military crackdown. Towards the end it became apparent that this story will end violently as every day turned more tense with more frequent violent incidents on both sides. The only question remaining was how violent.
