Independent Feelings

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Kosovo | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | 5 photos

I graduated with a Fine Arts bachelor in 2007 and have been volunteering for almost a year at the Civic Initiative Movement for SELF-DETERMINATION! as a photographer in which I am currently working for two months now.

I was 14 years old when the war took over my country and I am surprised of how many details I remember still to this day. Starting from the most terrible massacres to NATO explosions, nights without electrical power and the day which we abandoned home. I thought my life literally ended that day and when I arrived to Macedonia (from Kosovo) I was shut down for almost two months and never left the room! The day of returning home after three months was the happiest day in my life even though we found it all ruined.
My story consists my personal view and above all my true feelings of the Independence of Kosovo (17.02.2008). I tried to capture every emotion, every detail and every song our hearts sang and I truly hope to bring that to you too for it was a joy I never felt before!

I believe I should win the scholarship because I adore photography, I like to capture every little detail, every emotion and every precious moment! To me photography is a frozen fragment of an emotion. I am really passionate about it and I think it is the greatest job a person can have, therefore I work with pleasure and I would love to learn more every day. I followed National Geographic Photography since a few years back and I was amazed by the photographers work, so working and be mentored by a National Geographic Photographer would be a dream come true!
