Roy's Peak

NEW ZEALAND | Wednesday, 12 September 2007 | Views [577]

Oh the serenity!

This is the view from mid way up Wanaka's mighty Mount Roy. Nick and I managed the 1600 metre climb in 4 hours and although absolutely exausted, the panoramic views from the top were magnificent we couldn't help smile, even if it was without breath!

Most of Lake Wanaka can be seen, along with an awesome view of Mount Aspiring and surrounding mountains and glaciers. The 2 hour stumble back down again sure did kill the knees though, and it took a couple of days to wean the body back to full mobility! The spa afterwards helped a treat!

Stoked to have done it. The legs killed, but the views were so worth it.
