feeling a bit melancholy. the days quickly slipped by and this morning i found myself reluctantly restuffing the backpack. i only now just got comfortable in this skin and now i have to move on. farewell to the nameless favored spots to eat, to the special shortcut i found through the wet market to the pier, to the fragrant breezes during all my nighttime strolls, to the most beautiful gesture of greeting - palms pressed together and raised to the nose.

have some truly amazing memories to take with me and all of them catalog the simple human connection. i will always remember the warm grin of the monk outside of Wat Pho, who in an unusual act of kindness, approached me in my obvious map confusion to help set me straight onto Chinatown while practicing his english. lunching in Chatuchak and falling into conversation with Allen [Sweden], Bill & Wendy [Rhode Island]. and next time i pass through Maine i shall definitely drop in on Sheila and check out her small shop of Thai treasures.
