Southern Africa 2014

About grace2014

I'm an elder now--but I do not feel like one most of the time.  I live in Rochester, NY where I worked as a librarian before I retired.  Now my days are ffilled with reading, gardening, enjoying friends, singing in a chorus, vorking as a hospice volunteer, assisting a family from Iraq, and traveling every chance I get!

I've always loved writing.  But on most of my international trips I never seem to find the time to write after the frist three or four days.  I am just too immersed in where I am, what I'm doing and seeing, and trying not to miss anything!  So I'm giving this journal a try online this time.

Who am I?  I'm a southerner by birth, finished high school in Savannah, GA, did college and grad work in NC, SC, KY, PA and NY, and absolutely loved my profession and working with students and teachers in an urban school setting here in Rochester, where I have lived for over 30 years.  I'm a Unitarian, a liberal Democrat, a tenor, a reader and writer, and a birdwatcher.

I am so fortunate and grateful to be where I am, and to have wonderful family and friends in my life.
