My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Photography is a tool for me to express my dreams and ideals. I use my camera to show others how I see and understand the world. I like those kinds of images that tell stories, sometimes people, other times places or even just a shape that inspires me to say something. I’d like my images to be alive in the eyes of those who see them, and in that way, be a reflection of each one of them, looking for that common place, and hoping to open their minds.
I grew up as an immigrant in the last corner of the world. I have learned from different people from different places. I have studied in different countries and I speak a few languages. Nothing in my life story is obvious or common, and I believe that it is this life experience that allows me to look at things form a fresh perspective and with an open mind.
I hope to be able to keep learning and telling histories through the lens of my camera in meaningful ways, and I see this scholarship as the perfect context to continue this path of learning and exploration.
