Roma

Oh yaaaaaa! Another sunny day in Roma! This city is filled with so many things to explore. Most of it is done on foot so you have to be careful not to burn out! Walked down to the Colesseo and found the Roman Forum. Considerd to be the "downtown" of Rome at the time. Housing court and law offices, the Arch of Constantine,Temple of Saturn and the burial place of Julius Ceasar. Facinating stuff! Next, a walk down to Tabernia Island where the remains of the old bridge were still partially standing. Then on to the Mouth of Truth, an enormous marble head of a Triton with a gaping mouth. One of the cities most visited antiquities . It is said that in medieval times it was used as a judgement against liars. Those accused of lying had to place their hand in the mouth and repeat what they had said If they were lying the hand was cut off. On the way back to Termini Station we took a quick walk around tour of Santa Maria Magiore which we totally found by accident. A huge church that we did'nt know much about. Before we left we took a picture of a tomb which probably held the remains of Maria Magiore. Sitting back at Camping Roma I am realizing that this is truly the best way to see Rome. A little everyday, that way it all has time to sink in.....no brain overload!. Now were going to rest up for the Sistene Chapel which will be one of our highlights on tomorrows agenda.
