Smoke, burns and heat

Thokar Niaz Baig (Lahore) is a busy open market with lots of local small businesses run by men and women including barbers, toy sellers and other hawkers. The picture shows a woman sitting in bare shelter under hot sun with the temperature more than 45 degrees. Her work is at a tandoor (clay oven) where she makes corn and sells it for a menial earning. Although many women sell similar edibles and toys in the same market but this does not mean they are accepted in the market by men salesmen. They are often subjected to mental harassment and distress. These women have to face a lot of pressure to keep their businesses and place in the market.
