Miles into the moors you find these empty shielings: Lost capsules of life. My friend sits on a garden chair, sitting outside an empty shieling made from an old bus. I have no idea how this bus got out here without wheels, miles into the edge of nowhere.

The vast moors are dotted with shielings, little huts shepherds use in summer. You walk for miles, away from villages, out of phone signal, away from human life, to find these empty huts with only subtle signs of life. There is nothing else out here and it's stunning.

This shieling lost its walls but this desk, with perfectly tidied cultery, remains. The headline of the paper lining says 'the memory' - the paper was unbelievably old. A sign of life and lack of life in one: The contradictions of this amazing, stark, island.
