My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
USA | Monday, January 14, 2013 | flickr photos
Four months ago I quit my job, packed my entire world into a car, and drove across the US in search of a life I could be passionate about. I wanted to find away to use my creative skills to benefit a greater good. Now, as a multimedia designer for a non-profit, I thought I was fulfilling that, but the more I photograph the world, and blog about the places I've been, the more I realize that behind a camera, capturing stories, is where I am most beneficial.
I can't really predict where my photographic career may lead me, but I do know it will be exciting, and I'll go places I've never been, and see things I never even knew existed. I will meet people who will change me forever, and hopefully I'll have the same effect on them. But most importantly, I'll be telling stories of people and places for those that may not have the ability to see it and feel it for themselves.
My favorite aspect of taking a photograph is being able to find a natural composition, and snap it before the moment's gone. It's controlling the way a person's eye moves when they first glance at a photo, and how that influences the way the story is told. The amount of power a properly framed moment can have is inspiring.
That's my motivator. I want to inspire.
