My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Worldwide | Tuesday, November 8, 2011 | flickr photos

Hello, I am Margo Giannaklis. I am 23 and I live in the central belt of Scotland in a small town called Bathgate. I took photography for one year at High school and continued to take photographs while doing film and media at Stirling University. Before that I used to take pictures on my Dads old camera which he got when he lived in America. Out of every camera I have ever used my favourite remains a Fuji film disposable.
I believe photography is the most powerful communicator in the modern world, both as an art form and in its journalistic form and every form in-between. Photography allows me to show other people what I see which is what I love about it; it allows me to express my point of view showing people what I think is important and beautiful which in turn might make people see thing in a different light.
I would like to win because I believe I have a ‘good eye’ and I believe in my photographs but I do not have a lot of opportunities where I live to gain experience in the field so this would mean a lot to me. I am not one to gush.
Creativity inspirers me and visual communication is my first language.
