If ignorance is bliss, then its better to be aware than joyful. A wanderer of sorts I started traveling the World at a young age. I was born in Peru, but moved to Hawaii when I was around six. The stark contrast of continents left me wondering about what else could be out there. At the age of 17 I embarked on my first solo trip. I was hooked. I've since been to well over a dozen third world countries, From Tibet to Egypt and many places in between. However, something unexpected happened on my journey. I stated to realize the many injustices which still plague our world. Thats when I decided that If I was to keep traveling, I wanted to figure out a way to help. I'm a strong believer that the first step towards change is awareness. Furthermore the best form of awareness other than first hand experience are documentaries. So I started shooting & editing videos and subsequently I found the power of story telling. Fueled with a new found passion I embarked on a solo project to go down to the Amazon and document two tribes who are under heavy threat from illegal logging, mining, oil exploration and the sale of their ancestral lands. This project was entirely a work of passion. I love our world and the people in it, thats why I'm determined to make a difference. I know that if I was chosen for this contest, I would exceed expectations. I would love the chance to be mentored by Brian Rapsey and to embark on this new journey. Hopefully together we can change the World!
