My Scholarship entry - Through Local Eyes

WORLDWIDE | Sunday, 14 October 2012 | Views [252] | Scholarship Entry

London’s East End is a mighty mingling of cultures, a constantly shifting world of urban vitality and historical connections. Nev’s cafe E. Pellicci gave us an unique insight to this part of town as he shared his interwoven experience of work, family and living in the community. His charisma and ability to connect to his punters allowed us to experience his personal story of growing up and working in the East End.

Ali, after graduating as an engineer, decided to follow the footsteps of maverick filmmaker Robert Rodriguez and was inspired to write, direct and shoot his own films whilst attending film school. He has ambitions to travel to India to make his dream feature documentary based on his grandfather, the legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi.

Georgie decided to pursue a career in presenting after signing up to hospital radio. Since then she has worked as a reporter for a showbiz website and hopes to produce and present immersive documentaries that will allow her to meet and speak to some of life’s quirkiest characters!

This experience would allow us to grow and develop both of our passions and, it its own right, will fulfill our ambitions of telling stories through film.
