My Scholarship entry - Memorable moments in Myanmar
Myanmar | Monday, November 24, 2014 | 5 photos
I have not swum with crocodiles, climbed Mt Everest or visited all the continents, but I have swum with sharks, climbed a volcano & travelled to many far away places.
In 2005, I left my marketing career to become an international tour guide. In 2008, working again as a desk jockey, I bought my first SLR & spent the next 5 years studying the craft while living in Vancouver. Combining a love of travel with an inquisitive mind, my camera has become a vehicle to interact with people & explore the world. I try to capture meaningful moments of ordinary, everyday subjects…a slice of life within the frame.
With a strong portfolio of travel images, I am ready to face the challenges of ‘going pro’. I want to continue to develop as a photographer, & the opportunity to learn from a master such as Jason would be invaluable. I would cherish the experience to work alongside him… listening, watching, questioning, laughing, sweating... & possibly even swearing!
I will share my knowledge with other photographers, support local communities, or simply giving a printed portrait to my subjects who might never otherwise receive one.
My bags are packed… just give me the green light!
