An outback story

My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

Bygone era...

I love to scour the outback for traces and remnants of bygone days.... These were the days when pioneers lived in wide open areas - where pastoral areas were fenced off by old barbed wire fences.... Water was drawn from the ground by wind powered pumps.... Sheep would be rounded up and herded off to the shearing sheds - normally built of galvanised tin sheets.... Old UTE's criss-crossed the farms with their loads.... and on Sunday's, worship was held at old bush churches..... Where people were thankful and sang their praises on old pianos......

Who am I...... My name is Geoff Thomas. I have been in the IT industry since the early 90's. About 10 years ago, I picked up a camera and I have never looked back since. Having grown up in a city of nine million people, I tend to avoid the concrete jungle and head into the great outdoors as often as possible. Amateur photography has now become a passion of mine and I am trying to specialise in Landscape Panoramas. This invariably involves a bit of travel - always in search of the unusual.

I have had a few successes at local art shows and have set up a couple of web sites to display my work....
