My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

My name is Garry Norris I'm a 32yo Chef from the Gold Coast, Australia.

I have always had a love of photography but have had to put it on the back burner until last year when I lost the vision in one eye, I then decided that I needed to bite the bullet and make the most of what I have, makes you realise that you never know what can happen so you need to seize the moment. I went out and brought an entry level DSLR and have never looked back. I don't have time to take classes so I just read as much as I can and learn by the good old trial and error method

Photography to me is about seizing the moment, capturing the essence and emotion of what I see and preserving it for the rest of time.

Winning this competition would hopefully be a stepping stone to a career in travel and food photography, it would be amazing to be able to blend my 3 loves together.

It would be a privilege to be mentored by Jason, not only with the actual photography but also the post processing, I have never used any advanced editing software so I am very keen to learn.

I would also like to say thank you to National Geographic and World Nomads for offering this amazing opportunity to aspiring photographers.
