My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I have been a journalist for more than 15 years but it was not until four years ago that I picked up an SLR as hobby. Being a reporter placed me closer to various facets of human emotions that got expression in my writings. But I always felt that there was something more that needed to be conveyed. I started carrying camera on my off-days roaming on the streets in search of stories. It was not my professional requirement but a very personal quest to capture everyday life around me. I have reached a point where I want to take this interest forward and venture into the domain of what is known as the professional world of photography. The journey so far has had its own ups and downs. I can easily say that it has mostly been downs than ups. I want to become a better photographer. I will give whatever I have in me to be a good apprentice and imbibe skills that will prepare me to take the plunge in the field of professional photography. I am willing to start afresh as a rookie and however clichéd it might sound but you keep learning till you die. The hunger for learning in me is as alive as it used to be at any time earlier in my life. I have it in me to make it better, if not big.
