My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

As a person who relies on lists in order to organize the flying bumper car thoughts running around my brain, I’ll try my best to direct the traffic into an understandable flow.
So what exactly is riding in these bumper cars anyways?
My thoughts revolve around filmmaking, photography, travel, and education. I'll start with that foundation: I am a senior at the Savannah College of Art and Design studying film and photography. Particularly when I’m here, I live in my little camera bubble while plotting my next trip. I save up during the year to travel somewhere new for a few months at a time. I’m only 21 so the list has quite a bit of room to go, but so far I’ve organized treks to Tanzania, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and a U.S roadtrip. To me travel means living and working wherever you find yourself for at least a month and learning the stories of your surroundings. Its something I want to get better at, and a major reason why I’ve been so excited about the World Nomads Scholarships. This is the first time I’ve been ready to apply but not the first time I’ve drooled over the opportunities.
As I mentioned previously, education is another major driving force for me. There’s my own personal forward spiral of understanding, but (this sounds cheesy), I genuinely believe it’s a uniting force for humanity, and something I want to be a part of. I try to focus on projects that promote critical thinking, asking viewers to take another look at commonplace concepts that we’ve stopped questioning.
I’m overwriting, but thank you for reviewing my submission and making this opportunity available in the first place.
