This photo is very special to me. This praying mantis and I had a true connection that night, not to mention that this majestic little creature single handedly spurred the ridding of my debilitating entomophobia.

A candid photo of my sister getting up from the sanctity of the hammock. I spent countless hours on that hammock the two months I was in Costa Rica, I even attempted sleeping the night on it a couple of times, ending up on the floor of course....

This is one of Jaco's many friendly stray pups. A meal is not too difficult to come by in Jaco, all it takes is catching the gaze of one tenderhearted bystander to fill his belly. Thus it seems that the sense of longing this pup exudes in this photo is not for food, but for some much needed affection.
