The ability to do what you love at all times is a blessing. Its something that I cherish and at this point in my life receiving the World Nomads scholarship would allow me to continue doing so in a way that ensure’s a step taken towards progression of what I’ve grown to be passionate about. In comparison to my 13 years experience as a dancer, filmmaking is a fairly recent interest of mine that has grown into something much more. Being self-taught and starting my own Vimeo channel has gotten me to a point where I’ve learned a lot but feel that continuing this journey under the guidance of a mentor would be an essential next step in my growth as a filmmaker.
I should be chosen because of the perspective I bring to storytelling. My approach comes from my background as a dancer to search for tales of people that care about what they do and my experience with street photography brings a unique aesthetic meant to add grittiness towards the visual element of the films that I make. Given the opportunity to cultivate this even more in Columbia I would love the chance to take full advantage of it and create something epic while traveling around Bogotá!
Cheers,
Frankie Perez
