My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Philippines | Sunday, July 7, 2013 | flickr photos

I fell in love with photography a few years ago, when I discovered the novelty of using analog cameras using expired film. Eventually I began to experiment with digital as well, playing around to get the right color grading so I could emphasize the essence of the moment. This new hobby made me more attuned to my surroundings, from the mellow temper of nature to the ephemeral art of urban culture. Being the frustrated poet that I am, I wanted people to see mundane moments through a romanticized perception. And the more pictures I took, the more my thirst to explore heightened. How I wish I had the means to travel further than this locality.

My greatest fear is that I may perish without having seen the ends of the earth. For 21 years I have been resigned to this small country simply because I could not afford to go further. Don't get me wrong, Philippines is a gem, but only one among thousand others in this planet. What I am working towards is to fulfill my very main goal, which is to see all there is to see and feel all there is to feel. If I get chosen for this scholarship, the greater community will get to see their world aesthetically through a romantic's eyes.
