My Scholarship entry - A journey in a Temporary Roma Camp in Lille

France | Saturday, November 22, 2014 | 5 photos

Since i was child i was fashinated by photography. I cultivate my passion always using my camera, experiencing the emotion of the darkroom, and using every occasion to take pictures everytime, and everywhere i went travelling.
But after this reportage i discover that a city , under the usual image that gives to the people, hides some backstages which are emotional to discover. They brings you in a totally other dimension you didn't expect; you can be in India staying in France .
That is what happens when i put my eye in the viewfinder: I go in another dimension, another world, and I try to narrate it from the prospective of my camera.
Here you can find peace in war situations, nature in concrete, humanity in animals, civilization in primordiality. And photography just helps to concentrate on this details.
I found this nomad camp in Lille, it was situated between two highways, and i tryed to establish a relation with inhabitants. I ask for their stories and their daily life, and try to mediate it overcoming the conventional image we use to have on Roma people.
To learn with Jason Edwards will give more possibilitys to me, and above all to the people i portray, to be understood from everybody. Ride over the indifference of the world is what i really desire. Working on this with the photography is the dream.
