My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

As a child, I dreamt of living in a shack on a snow-capped mountain to a shipwreck under the sea. I may have outgrown my childhood fantasies but what remains is the the will to explore the myriad faces of planet Earth. Intrigued by the world around me, I started capturing it on my camera in my mid-teens. Gradually, photography became a way of life as it helped me to connect with the world.

Through photography, I try to express my interpretation of what I see around me and how it influences me. The fundamental motive behind the pictures I click is to voice my thoughts, particularly the ones that go unnoticed when spoken. I wish to convey my love for nature and people, to portray their beauty and their sufferings. Also, I want my pictures encourage a harmony between mankind and nature.

Photography has attributed me with the strength to add permanence to my visions. This scholarship will offer me an opportunity to complement my photography with more substance. Jason’s mentoring will help me better perceive the pleasures and challenges of exploration and photography. This opportunity could provide me with the platform to build a career as a professional photographer.
