My Photo scholarship 2011 entry

I love photography, in particular underwater photography and have been so since I got my first digital underwater camera in Apr 2008. At the moment I am using a compact camera - a Canon G12 - and I am passionate about using compact cameras to get the best results I can. I get annoyed and frustrated when I get told by other photographers that to get good photos you must have a DSLR set up so every shot I take I am aim to be the best.
I do have a DSLR camera which I use for when I do my topside photography. I like land & seacape photography and I recently travelled to Scotland and Germany where I tried out travel style of photography for the first time and enjoyed it.
I enjoy talking about photography and scuba diving and as a result I have also started writing articles for scuba diving magazines here in Australia and so far I have had about ten articles published - all with my own words and photos. It doesn't pay much but I just get enjoyment when I hear people talking about my stories on the places I dive. I also enjoy it even more when I tell people that all my photos are done with compacts.
My favourite place at the moment for my underwater photography is Bali. Bali is called the Island of the Gods and Neptune must certainly live there under the seas surrounding this beautiful island.
I am my own worst critic and with each shot I try and make it better than the last one. I guess if I ever take the perfect shot I would give up.
I believe that through photography - in particular underwater photography - we can educate people and through education we can change their attitude and perceptions and hopefully make things better.
Thank you for giving me the chance to participate in this contest.
