A girl rarely travel around in my country.Despite this, I packed my bags and tightened my boots with all my guts and a small lie. Yes, lying is not bad when you're intentions are good enough. I wanted to explore my country, the Himalayas and being an emerging wildlife biologist, the trip was a part of my work. Normally, girls are not allowed to travel alone without a female companion. Unfortunately, the team included only me in the trip. This was a golden opportunity for me to travel above 3000m and hence, I lied my parents saying I have another female friend along with me.
With all the bumpy rides, snaky roads and 2 days continuous walking uphill we reached the rhododendron clad forests, icy rivers and the breathtaking Himalayas range in the north, the heaven on earth: Bhusinga, Okhaldhunga.
I was soo happy to see this part of my country, I had never been there. Land of one of the most strongest people on earth; The Sherpas. Likewise, the beautiful monastery at the top, sight of Mt. Everest from the highest Demba hill was one of its kind. We were there to search the wild animals present in the region and luckily, we were able to encounter Himalayan Black Bear in the jungle along with beautiful deers and birds. My main task was to find the scats or say poops and pugmarks of the animals, so I must say I was a Poopwoman sniffing the poops.
The trip itself was very new for me; only female in the Himalayas. I had never camped in the forest before and we did it there. I was so happy to be one of the very few females experiencing all these. But, to be frank it's not an easy task indeed. The most funny thing would be we normally don't use toilet papers. Surprised? Yes, we clean our ass with the water rather than paper and I had been to the place where water wasn't available and I did not have alternatives. I felt so uncomfortable for some days. To make it worse, I saw the tinge of blood in the underwear. Oh God! I hate that situation.
I was so upset as I am devoid of water to clean myself during the time I need it the most. But, I consoled myself saying 'Anisha, this is your time to prove how tough you are. You should be brave enough to handle the situation.' I realized competing with the boys is not that easy. Suddenly, after 2 days the area was all enveloped by snow. This was my first time to see and touch snow as well.I was happy taking some pictures on snow. I realized my problem was solved. And that day, I cleaned my genitals with SNOW! Most memorable day
