My first home was aboard a 36' sailboat my parents built in the Pacific Northwest. My next home was on an island in the Puget Sound, walking distance to the beach. I blaim my parents for my uncontrolable wanderlust and desire to travel and live in beautiful places.
Driving down the Mexican Baja and sailing in the Sea of Cortez, I celebrated my 9th birthday which deeply rooted my love of Latin America. I have since spent a combination of time over the years in Mexico, Bolivia, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Nicaragua, Panama and Costa Rica in activities ranging from building houses, to teaching English to backpacking and studying abroad.
How does Asia fit into the equation one might ask?
Well, I love Thai food. It also seems just about everyone I know has been to Asia and back safely, so I thought "It's now or never." I didn't want "never" to come. So I quit my job, sold my car and bike, stored a few boxes, rented out my house and gave everything else away. All for a one-way ticket to the Orient....
