My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Israel | Tuesday, June 25, 2013 | flickr photos

When I have my camera on my hands, I feel the cheesy and corny love shown in movies. I’m Flor, a 23 year-old Nicaraguan completely passionate about photography. I’ve been interested in it since I was about 11 years-old, but it was not long ago when I said to myself “why not?” and bought my camera. And there I was, holding a challenge in my hands and not knowing what to do. I learned the basics. Oh boy! I felt in heaven. I’ve been doing this for about a year now. I’ve never wanted something this much in my entire life. I feel deeply thankful to have found my passion. This year I started a photography blog to share with the world a piece of myself but I have a bigger vision for it: to make it a launching tool for new photographers in my country. When I started, I didn’t have anyone mentoring me. I want to support emerging talent. But I still have a lot to learn. I want to make art, not a fortune out of my photos. Each one speaks of moments, ideas, and feelings. They tell stories. I want mine to be the best. This is my dream, and I’m not letting anything, not even my own fear and doubt, keep me away from it. I always say: I already have “No” as an answer; I’m going after the “Yes”.
