Much
like Hervey bay, Arlie Beach does not have lots of entertainment but going
to the Whitsunday
Islands. I had previously
booked a trip on The Pride of Arlie to go for 2 days and 2 nights. The
Whitsundays are formed by 8 islands on the coast of Australia,
close to Arlie Beach. After almost 3 weeks traveling I
found out one shorts wasn’t enough and I had lost one of my shirts. In Arlie I
bought a shirt and shorts at a 50% sale. The laundry gap days increased, since
I never have a full washer when I do laundry I either have to find someone else
to split the laundry expenses or buy more clothes. If I buy more clothes I have
to carry more weight, so splitting is the best option.
This
time food was included, we did not have to buy it, however alcohol is not
included, so we bought some to fill that gap. Also we had to rent stinger suits
and fins for snorkeling. The area has many types of jelly fish, including
Irukandjis at times. Stinger suits are highly recommended. A small book bag
with clothes, mask and camera, and drinks was all. However, it was 51 of us
with more or less the same contents in the boat. Not too much space to move.
The
first day we went straight to the island. We, the English guys: David and Leon;
and the Italian couple: Nicola and Carlota and another 46 people. The resort in
South Mole Island
was very scenic, very secluded and still developed; it had a great pool with a
bar right next to, two tennis courts and many rooms. Our room was a dorm with a
great view to the dock and ocean.
In
the morning we had breakfast with the birds, unbelievable, these Lori Parakeets
are beautiful, at home they would definitely be a pet, however in some parts of
Australia
they are on every three they can find a small space. Still they fight between
them for branches. Breakfast was reasonable but enough to fulfill until lunch
later on at the boat.
Right
after all of us boarded the boat to go to White Heaven
Beach. Some say White
Heaven is the most beautiful beach in the world, I highly doubt. I have seen
many other beaches more scenic, more beautiful and definitely with better sand.
The snorkeling was ok, not much sea life; a couple of fish if much. We spent
some time there, had lunch and went back to the resort.
At
the resort was great, we soaked at the pool for about 2 hours. With a
temperature of 30 to 35 Celsius the whole time, the pool felt like the lake in Fraser Island.
Right after, us Latins challenged the Anglos for a tennis match; me and Nicola
against the English boys. Latins 1 – 0.
In
the morning we left on the Cat for some snorkeling, it is always great so see turtles in the water, this docile, naïve and
very sympathetic animal. There wasn’t much life and the visibility wasn’t great,
but it was good overall. Right after, we had lunch and headed back to the quiet
Arlie Beach.
We stayed overnight for the next day to head to Cairns.
