My name is Fabrice Jaine, I am French and currently living in Australia. After traveling to Australia and South Africa in late 2008, I quickly became keen to
capture and share some of the amazing scenes I witnessed. Since then, I have been learning about photography in parallel to my postgraduate studies in a hope of some day being able to raise awareness on some important environmental and social issues.
I was born and raised in southern France, on the Mediterranean coastline.
There, I grew up exploring the local fauna and flora and quickly
became passionate about the marine realm. As an avid free diver and
scuba diver, I have always loved being in and around water. It only
took me few years to realize that I wanted to play a role in
protecting the oceans. I thus undertook studies in Marine Biology and Ecology, in France and later transferred to Australia. I am today
conducting research as part of my PhD on the movements of plankton-feeding marine megafauna and links to ocean dynamics and productivity,
with a special focus on manta rays.
I strongly believe that beautiful images can attract someone's attention to a topic, and even change their perception of that topic. My goal is to shoot striking photographs that will communicate my
passion for nature and the marine world to the general public.
