Finding Passion In The Journey

Arriving in Medellin

COLOMBIA | Wednesday, 8 December 2010 | Views [296]

Finally finding a place to settle down in Medellin, Colombia. After days of moving around and enduring thunderstorm after thunderstorm the weather has cleared and the birds are chirping.

Upon finally taking the big step outside of my comfort zone (and ignoring all the warnings not to come) I have found the Colombian people to be some of the most friendly and welcoming people in the world. And why not? Now they are able to freely move about their beautiful country without fear of kidnappings or bombs exploding in shopping malls.

This is not to say that there aren´t places to stay away from. The FARC rebels are still relatively active in certain remote parts of the country. However, on the whole, the big cities are safe.

Not only safe, but vibrantly alive with culture and movement. The sounds of Salsa and Reggeton are heard around every corner, and if you are standing still in a nightclub you can be sure that you won´t stay that way for long. Everyone dances here, everyone has style.

Thank you for the warm welcome Colombia, I´m very glad to finally be here.
