One of the main activities is of course building and restoring boats and tying together barrels and bamboo which are used, together with boat hulls, to keep everything floating.

This is one of many families selling freshly caught shrimps. The mother paddles around the village, while her son helps her out with the weighting. Other families sell fruit and vegetables, chickens and fish, drinks, while karaoke bars, ice factories and churches floats around all tied together forming waterways and canals.

The population is partly Vietnamese: pagodas decorated with bougainvilleas while floating on top of boat hulls are not uncommon sights.
Even though the village seems disconnected from the rest of the world, there is more than one mobile phone shop (floating of course!)...
